Gemco Construction has a unique staff structure which encourages and promotes a culture of open communication and mutual respect. Apart from our regular Management meetings we also have regular meetings where all staff are kept informed on the progress of the company. We are the only construction company in Hawke’s Bay to employ a Registered Construction Manager and a Registered Quantity Surveyor who also holds a National Certificate in Health and Safety and Injury Prevention.

Ashley Hartley
General Manager (NZCB, NZCQS, FNZIQS, Reg Q/S, MNZIOB, Reg CM, Nat Cert H&S)
Ashley offers more than four decades experience in the construction industry. He is a Qualified Carpenter, Registered Quantity Surveyor, Registered Construction Manager and holds the National Certificate in Health & Safety and Injury Prevention. He is also a Fellow of the NZ Institute of Quantity Surveyors, is a Member of the New Zealand Institute of Building, has recently completed a 2 year term as National President of the Registered Master Builders Federation Inc and was awarded Life Membership at their 2008 conference. Ashley has been responsible for an extremely wide range of construction work ranging from residential and industrial to large commercial, including churches, hospitals, prisons, grandstands and freezing works with individual contract values up to $150 million. Ashley’s vision is to ensure that each project is an enjoyable experience that is carried out to the highest quality standards. Part of this process involves keeping you up to date with the financial aspects of the project.
